Happy Birthday Jennifer!

Joe and I traveled back to the city for Jen's birthday dinner Saturday night at our favorite restaraunt Bocce (in North Beach)! Chances are if you have gone to the city with Joe and I you have gone here. The environment is friendly and fun and the food is good and well-priced! I hope everyone liked it! Thanksgiving

Joe and I had Thanksgiving with the Forbes family! :) Like always, it was a hoot! If you have ever seen Dan in Real Life, Joe's family is sort of like that. . . hilarious, fun, and REAL. There isnt a bad apple in the bunch. Love you all and thanks for a very memorable Thanksgiving.

Pagra!

My First PIE!

Judy and I spent Wednesday baking up a storm of five pies!!! It was so fun, making the crust was my favorite. I am so glad I know how to whip up a pie now ! Thanks for the great lesson Judy.

This is what I made for Joe. . Pagra provided the apples from his backyard :) I don't know if you can see but the crust is made out of little leaf cutouts. Judy bought the crust cutout cutters from Williams and Sonoma. . anyone know if they still sell them?

The Science Center

Joe and I were able to get to San Fran a day early and took a trip to the sciences center with the parents. It was really cool. The aquarium was amazing, had it not been so crowded I could totally sit there and just watch the fishies.

Breadscapades!

So I finally got Carla's famous bread recipe and was planning to make it "when I had time," but someone beat me to it! Joe went ahead and made the bread and it came out perfectly!!!! His first time!!! What the? After all of my attempts my breads never came out as good as this loaf did. . . jealousy for his first time perfection is brewing inside me ;p

The Hubs Featured

We all know Joe is about the nicest guy alive, and apparently, not just his family and friends think so. The university asked him to put together a blurb because they would like to feature him on the Engineering website! Great little feature, although, Im thinking we need to send them a better picture!

Husband Love

I am one lucky gal, let me tell you. My husband is the sweetest thing ever! Recently, our DVD player broke so Joe went to get another one. Low and behold, what does he come home with? A blue ray player! He is crazy, I know, a technology loving goofball. Anyway, guess what Blue Ray disc he decided to purchase with it? He purchased me the 50th Anniversary of Sleeping Beauty! We saw an ad for it the other day and I barely mentioned wanting to get it, and he remembered and got it for me! I absolutely adore that movie! Joe watched it with me, put up me singing to every song and going on and on about how perfect her hair is. Thank-you hubs for making me feel so special.

Our wedding photographer recently contacted me with great news! She has submitted our wedding photos to bride and bloom magazine to hopefully be published! Apparently, a staff member from Bride and Bloom reads Sarah's blog, saw our wedding photos and contacted Sarah to have her submit them for publishing. From my understanding the photos will need to go through a couple of 'tests' before they are deemed publish worthy. . .so while there are no guarantees we are still really excited. Keep your fingers crossed, it would be very cool for all the vendors (minus a certain difficult hotel) to be recognized :)

Breadscapades!

After four tries I have finally figured out the secret to good bread. . one must use the beer bread recipe! haha. I thought I would try this recipe because it seemed to make sense to put some beer in bread, I thought it would add flavor and some great texture and it did! I was so happy! Im definately going to stick with using this recipe, the others were a little bland. And I promise I will stop posting on lame loafs and vow now to only post my about my breadscapades when I make something cool, maybe like a rosemary olive bread, or some sourdough or something. On to bigger and better things I say now that I got the "white" bread recipe down.

1 Month

Joe and I celebrated our one month on Wednesday! I cant believe we made it! haha. JK!!! No but really, my husband is soo sweet. He had to go to open gym that night so when I got home he wasnt home, but look at what i found waiting for me!

To celebrate we got a tri-tip from Costco. . since I knew Joe wouldn't be home until later I decided to start the bbq. I haveto admit, I know nothing about bbq and it is obvious because this is how the meat turned out! A little charred but suprisingly still super tasty :) Costco is the best I swear!

BreadScapades!

My bread making is not going tooo well! Well actually it was until Joe got home. . . I decided to make the "whole wheat" bread recipe and it was going so superbly. . . then Joe decided to lift the lid and "smoosh" the bread down while it was rising! WHY? I have no clue, ask Joe. I guess the perfect fluffiness was too much temptation for his little fingers to handle! haha. Understandibly, after Joe decided to smoosh it, it did not turn out how it should have. As you can see it was a little short which made is spongy. I had no clue how crazy bread making was. I will try again and Joe will not be allowed to come within a yard of it! hah.

Brothers

I am so lucky i grew up with brothers! On numerous occasions I found this awaiting me in the middle of the night, Im so glad I know to check before I go! I love you husband. . . and thank-you John and Scott, I appreciate life's little lessons so much more now ;)

I am

For one of my classes we were asked compose an "I am" poem and share it with the class. Although nervous to do so, I decided to post it here. I figured if I can share this much of myself with my classmates then I can share this much with my family and closest friends. I know it may be random and a little deep for our light hearted blog but I really like the way it turned out :) Its amazing how this little exercise helps you capture yourself, try it yourself, it is quite interesting.

BreadScapades!

Joe and I got a bread maker with some of the gift cards we received for the wedding. I know, not the most practical thing but Joe's face lit up talking about getting one. So naturally I caved and we got one-it was the one item he seemed stoked about getting. It arrived in the mail yesterday and we immediately went to Safeway to get supplies. . I read the manual . . carefully did the measurements (all along using some wonderful new mixing bowls and measuring cups :) and waited the 3 + hours for it to bake.

Our Vows

Joe and I want this to become a space where we can share inspiration with each other and others for living, laughing, and loving. I thought it only appropriate to have the first "real" inspirational post to be our vows. It was a bit of labor of love with them; some words are borrowed, some are old, and some are new, none blue (sorry had to make a funny) but I think we captured everything we meant to and that is why they are special to us.
